Assault on the High Security Prison of Huamanga
Assault on Huamanga CRAS allows 304 inmates to escape, 70 of them hikers
The assault on the High Security Prison (CRAS) of Huamanga took place, from where 304 inmates managed to escape, of which approximately 70 were hikers. The attackers spread throughout the city, dispersing and pinning down the police with gunfire while they subdued the prison guards. The Army troops did not leave the 'Los Cabitos' barracks, as there was no order from Lima.
