Murder of Gamonal Echegaray
Gamonal Echegaray was assassinated by the PCP-Sendero Luminoso in Pincos through a 'popular trial' in March 1982. This event was part of the intensification of violent actions by the PCP-SL in Andahuaylas during that period.
The gamonal surnamed Echegaray was assassinated by the PCP-Sendero Luminoso in the area of Pincos by means of a 'popular trial'. This event occurred shortly after the assassination of Civil Guard Captain Luis Rodriguez Hernandez in Talavera on March 3, 1982. The assassination was part of a series of violent actions by the PCP-SL in Andahuaylas province during March 1982, which also included the assault on the Pacucha Civil Guard post on April 1 and the seizure of Andarapa on April 4. The Pincos cooperative was subsequently assaulted for the second time on April 8, 1982, with its installations almost completely destroyed.
