Destruction at Cooperativa Chingol
The PCP-SL destroyed the infrastructure of the Chingol Cooperative in Chuquibamba, Cachachi, Cajabamba, as part of its strategy to liquidate associative companies in the region.
On January 14, 1982, the PCP-SL raided the Chingol Cooperative, located in Chuquibamba, Cachachi district, Cajabamba province. During this raid, the Shining Pathists destroyed the cooperative's infrastructure. This event was part of the PCP-SL's initial strategy in the region to liquidate the associative enterprises created by the Agrarian Reform, taking advantage of the conflicts and tensions derived from the land tenure system. The destruction of cooperatives was a recurrent pattern used by the PCP-SL to gain a social base among peasants who felt excluded from the benefits of these enterprises.
