PCP-SL seditious actions surpass Ayacucho

Between 1982 and 1987, the number of seditious actions of the PCP-SL in Metropolitan Lima surpassed that registered in Ayacucho, demonstrating the growing prominence of the capital as the scene of the internal armed conflict. This period marked the transition towards the prioritization of urban actions in the subversive strategy.

Between 1982 and 1987, the number of seditious actions carried out by the PCP-SL in Metropolitan Lima was higher than in Ayacucho, marking a significant change in the subversive strategy. This period represents the second half of the 1980s, when subversive actions in the cities acquired a new dimension and frequency. Since the beginning of the internal war, actions in the cities had great importance in the plans of the subversive groups, particularly the PCP-SL, but it was in this period when Lima began to consolidate as a priority scenario. This change showed that the capital was not only a "sounding board" but an increasingly important theater of operations for the people's war strategy.
