Law enforcement casualties in 1982

In 1982, 12 members of the Peruvian Armed Forces died while on duty in emergency zones or in combat against subversive elements. No police casualties were recorded that year.

During 1982, Peruvian law enforcement forces suffered 12 fatal casualties in the fight against armed subversion, according to information provided by the armed institutes and the Ministry of the Interior to the CVR. These casualties represented 0.7% of the total number of law enforcement casualties during the entire internal armed conflict (1980-2000). The 12 fatalities in 1982 corresponded exclusively to the Armed Forces, with no police casualties recorded that year. This was one of the first years of the internal armed conflict, when the subversive groups began their operations against State forces.
