Antonio Ayerbe Flores, a university student, was murdered on October 23, 1981 in the department of Cuzco. This event occurred during the early years of political violence in the region, in the context of the initial actions of the PCP-Sendero Luminoso in the department. The assassination took place in a period when the Zonal Committee of Cuzco of the PCP-SL was consolidating its presence, particularly among university students, teachers and some leaders.
