Declaration of a state of emergency in Ayacucho
Government declares state of emergency in five provinces of Ayacucho
The government placed five of the seven provinces of Ayacucho - Huamanga, Huanta, Cangallo, La Mar and Victor Fajardo - under a state of emergency, suspending constitutional guarantees regarding individual freedom for 60 days. This presidential decision included the suspension of guarantees, but not the entry of the Armed Forces.
