Mobilization for water and sewage in San Juan de Lurigancho

Mobilization of approximately 20,000 inhabitants of San Juan de Lurigancho in February 1981 demanding a solution to the water and sewage problem, after the failure to comply with the "Emergency Plan" promised by Congress.

In October 1980, ten thousand residents of 10 young towns of San Juan de Lurigancho marched to Congress, demanding a solution to the water and sewage problem. The senators responded by requesting an 'Emergency Plan' for Canto Grande, but when the promised measures were not implemented, the villagers resorted to new mobilizations. The largest of these mobilizations brought together approximately 20,000 inhabitants in February 1981, demonstrating the serious precariousness of basic services in the district.
