The rape occurred first in her home and she was subsequently taken to the Vilcashuaman police station in Ayacucho, where she was raped again. This case had great national resonance. The authorities tried to discredit the allegations, describing them as "the well-known reaction of violence against order, of crime against the law, in an attempt to undermine the validity of the evidence of responsibility found in the area". Georgina declared: "I was already totally dead, I no longer felt that I was normal".
