Incursion to SAIS Angasmarca
First incursion of the PCP-SL to the SAIS Angasmarca in Santiago de Chuco, where 30 Shining Path troops completely destroyed the cooperative, looted and distributed goods, killing one policeman and harassing two others.
In 1981, the first Shining Path incursion was recorded in Angasmarca, where the PCP-SL totally destroyed the SAIS cooperative 'José de San Martín Limitada N° 19', which had been one of the largest farms in Santiago de Chuco and had been converted into SAIS in 1972. The Shining Path group, made up of approximately 30 troops, destroyed the SAIS facilities, looted and distributed the goods among the population. During this first incursion, the Shining Path members killed one policeman and abused two others. This action was part of the PCP-SL's strategy to liquidate cooperatives and associative enterprises in the region, taking advantage of the land conflicts generated by the Agrarian Reform.
