First trekking excursion to Angasmarca
First incursion of the PCP-SL to Angasmarca in 1981, where they completely destroyed the SAIS cooperative, looted and distributed goods, assassinated a policeman and harassed two others.
In 1981, the first Shining Path incursion was recorded in Angasmarca, where the PCP-SL totally destroyed the SAIS "José de San Martín Limitada N° 19" cooperative. A group of approximately 30 PCP-SL troops carried out this action, during which they destroyed the SAIS facilities, looted and distributed the goods among the population. During this raid, the hikers killed one policeman and abused two others. Angasmarca had been one of the largest haciendas in Santiago de Chuco, converted into a SAIS in 1972 during the agrarian reform.
