First subversive action in Huancayo

On September 1, 1980, the PCP-SL carried out its first subversive action in Huancayo, attacking with explosive charges the police post and the district municipality of Chilca. This event marked the beginning of the Shining Path's political violence in the city.

The first subversive action of the PCP-SL in the city of Huancayo consisted of the launching of explosive charges against the police post and the district municipality of Chilca on September 1, 1980. This attack marked the beginning of the Shining Path's violent activities in Huancayo, just months after the official start of the "people's war" in Chuschi, Ayacucho. The attack was followed by other attacks on the 22nd of the same month against the Superior Court of Justice of Junin, the Land Court and again the district municipality of Chilca.
