First action of the PCP-SL in Pasco
On May 17, 1980, a detachment of the PCP-SL commanded by 'Feliciano' threw dynamite charges against the Municipal Council of Pasco and the offices of CENTROMIN PERU, the same day of the official beginning of the 'people's war' in Chuschi, Ayacucho.
On May 17, 1980, the same day that the so-called 'people's war' of the PCP-SL began in the district of Chuschi in Cangallo, Ayacucho, with the burning of ballot boxes, a detachment commanded by 'Feliciano' (Oscar Alberto Ramirez Duran) launched a dynamite charge against the premises of the Pasco Municipal Council and another against the offices of the CENTROMIN PERU company. This attack marks the beginning of the actions of the PCP-SL in the department of Pasco. The importance assigned to Pasco by the PCP-SL is demonstrated by the fact that this attack was simultaneous to the official beginning of their 'people's war' in Ayacucho. Towards the end of the 1970s, PCP-SL militants had already installed themselves in Pasco to proselytize among the miners, their unions, peasants and their trade unions.
