PCP-SL holds rally at UNSCH announcing the beginning of people's warfare

On May 1, 1980, the PCP-SL held a last rally at the UNSCH in which, under a forest of red flags, the Shining Path militants dressed in jackets and caps similar to those used by the Red Guards in the Chinese Cultural Revolution, announced the beginning of the People's War. It was the definitive farewell of the Shining Path cadres of the university. At the rally, leaders such as Edith Lagos, Casanova, Zorrilla and Durand spoke with warlike and prophetic speeches.
