Takeover of UNCP's central office by the student movement
Students took over the central UNCP building for more than two months in 1980.
The student movement emerged strongly against the Government Commission headed by Renán Ruiz, Jesús Véliz and Carlos Carvo, who were considered corrupt. The students carried out a takeover of the central premises of the university that lasted a little more than two months in 1980. This action resulted in a process of reorganization of the university and the redefinition of forces among the teachers, giving rise to a movement called 'Renovation'.
