Beginning of the armed struggle of the PCP-SL

The PCP-SL began its armed struggle in 1980 in a context of precarious means of communication.

In 1980, when the PCP-SL began its armed struggle, the development of the media in the central region was precarious. The region had only two daily newspapers, eight medium wave radio stations and fifty radio stations, most of them informal and of district scope. There were no regional or local television channels.
