Operation Green Sea II

Anti-narcotics operation carried out by Sinchis commandos in 1980 along the right bank of the Huallaga River. This operation generated resentment towards the police forces and was a precursor to the entry of the PCP-SL into the region.

Operation Verde Mar II was executed by Sinchis commandos along the right bank of the Huallaga River in 1980. This anti-narcotics operation was part of a series of interventions that began with Operation Cerrojo (1976) and Verde Mar I (1979). The Verde Mar operations are remembered in local memories as moments when widespread resentment towards the police forces had built up. These operations were an important precursor to the entry of the PCP-SL into the Alto Huallaga region.
