PCP-SL contact with mining settlements in Huancavelica
In the last months of 1980, the PCP-SL established contact with the mining settlements of Cobriza, Julcani and La Mejorada in Huancavelica, located near Ayacucho. This contact was relatively early compared to other mining centers in Cerro de Pasco and Junín.
By the last months of 1980, the PCP-SL had already made contact with some mining settlements in Huancavelica, specifically those located near the department of Ayacucho. The mining centers contacted were Cobriza, Julcani and La Mejorada, located in the provinces of Churcampa and Angaraes respectively. This contact was relatively early compared to other mining centers in the central region, where the presence of the PCP-SL was later. The constant strikes and work stoppages carried out by miners in 1982 had exacerbated the tempers of some company owners, who constantly transferred military contingents to provide security to the mining camps.
