National strike of SUTEP Cajamarca
SUTEP Cajamarca mobilized all its regional members to the national strike in 1979, as part of the great national strikes of 1978-1979 that contributed to the politicization of the regional population.
In 1979, the Sindicato Único de Trabajadores en la Educación del Perú (SUTEP) of Cajamarca mobilized all its regional members to participate in a national strike. This mobilization was part of the large national strikes developed by SUTEP in 1978 and 1979, which even mobilized parents. These actions contributed significantly to the politicization of the population in the region. SUTEP became an important social actor in the context prior to the beginning of the internal armed conflict, being one of the three main political actors along with APRA, Acción Popular and Izquierda Unida.
