Elections for Constituent Assembly with victory of PAP with 35% of valid votes
On Sunday, June 18, elections were held to initiate the political chronogram for the transfer of power from the Armed Forces to the civilian population. The leftist groups obtained a total of 30% of the valid votes; the PAP, 35%; and the PPC, 26%. The Christian Democracy and the National Odriist Union had reduced votes. Only two women were elected as parliamentarians.
