Sixty workers begin hunger strike protesting dismissals from July 1977 national work stoppage
On January 28, a hunger strike of sixty workers began on behalf of those dismissed during the national strike of July 1977. The strike continued until February, even after the police evicted the workers from the temples where they had been gathering.
