International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination adopted by the International Labour Organization

The Peruvian State approved the UN International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (1965) through Decree Law 18969 of September 21, 1971. This instrument is part of the international human rights normative framework ratified by Peru.

The Peruvian State approved the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination by Decree Law 18969 on September 21, 1971. This convention was originally adopted by the UN in 1965. The approval of this international instrument is part of the normative framework of human rights that Peru had ratified before and during the period of the internal armed conflict. This international treaty acquires constitutional relevance according to the provisions of the Constitutions of 1979 and 1993, which recognize the hermeneutic value of international human rights instruments to interpret the content and scope of fundamental rights.
