End of Efraín Morote's rectorate
Efrain Morote's rectorship ends, Red Flag's power increases in UNSCH
In 1968, Efraín Morote's term as rector of the UNSCH came to an end. The power of PCP-Bandera Roja in the University would increase after his departure. In 1969 the military government promulgated Law 17437, which sought to reorganize and depoliticize the public universities, replacing the legally elected university councils with executive councils. Paradoxically, this allowed radicalized sectors to reach the councils.
