Lurigancho Division
Administrative division of the district of Lurigancho in 1967 that gave rise to the district of San Juan de Lurigancho, as a result of the urban and demographic growth of the eastern area of Lima.
In 1967, the administrative division of the district of Lurigancho took place to create the new district of San Juan de Lurigancho. This division was the result of the pressure of urban growth in the eastern part of Metropolitan Lima. The process of district subdivision was part of the sociodemographic changes that Lima experienced since the mid-twentieth century, with the formation of new neighborhoods and the increase in population due to internal migration. San Juan de Lurigancho would later become the most populated district in Metropolitan Lima.
