Beginning of ELN actions in La Mar
In September 1965, the National Liberation Army (ELN) began a new insurrectional attempt in the province of La Mar, Ayacucho. This guerrilla movement was later annihilated, suffering the same fate as other guerrilla attempts in the 1960s.
In September 1965, the National Liberation Army (ELN) initiated actions in the province of La Mar, in Ayacucho. This was a new insurrectional attempt by the ELN, following previous guerrilla attempts in 1961-1963. The ELN guerrilla movement in this area was part of the second wave of guerrilla actions in Peru during the 1960s, which arose as a result of the agrarian and peasant problem expressed in the anti-landowner peasant mobilizations. Like other guerrilla movements of that period, this attempt by the ELN met the same fate as the previous ones and was annihilated.
