Peasant mobilizations in several districts of Andahuaylas

In 1965, there were peasant mobilizations in several districts of Andahuaylas province in response to ELN (National Liberation Army) actions in Chungui, La Mar province. The ELN's actions impacted Andahuaylas province, generating more peasant mobilizations against the hacienda regime in the districts of Chicmo, Pampachiri, Pacucha, Ocobamba and Ongoy. The peasants were reacting against a hacienda system that until the early 1970s was predominant and dominated provincial society.
