Convention on Genocide adopted by Peru

Peru approved the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (UN, 1948) through Legislative Resolution 13288 of December 29, 1959. This international instrument is part of the normative framework of human rights ratified by the Peruvian State.

The Peruvian State approved the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide through Legislative Resolution 13288 dated December 29, 1959. This Convention had been adopted by the United Nations (UN) in 1948. The approval of this international instrument incorporated into the Peruvian legal system the international obligations related to the prevention and punishment of the crime of genocide. This instrument is part of the normative framework of human rights that Peru has ratified and that has constitutional value according to the provisions of the Constitutions of 1979 and 1993.
