Reopening of San Cristobal de Huamanga National University
Government enacts law to reopen San Cristobal de Huamanga University
The government of Manuel Prado promulgates law 12828 that reopens the San Cristobal de Huamanga National University (UNSCH), which had been closed due to the War of the Pacific. On July 3, 1959, the UNSCH restarted its activities with 228 students. The reopening took place in the context of the modernization process of the State and was conceived as an entity promoting local development.
