Massacre in Cayara
In response to an ambush by the PCP Sendero Luminoso on a military convoy, a patrol of government forces entered the community of Cayara on May 13, 1988. They gathered the population and executed 28 peasants in cold blood. This event marked one of the most notorious attacks on a civilian population in the region during that period.
Una mujer de 13 años presenció el asesinato de su padre y hermano en Cayara durante octubre de 1985.
