Indulto de Presos Inocentes Acusados de Terrorismo en Perú
In 2002, after an intense campaign, a legal figure was implemented in Peru to free innocent prisoners accused of terrorism and treason. This procedure, known as 'Indulto', allowed the release of more than seven hundred and sixty people who had been unjustly imprisoned. Although the pardon did not recognize their innocence, it did admit that these people were victims of a miscarriage of justice, freeing them from incarceration without compensation and leaving a lingering stigmatization.
Tras una intensa campaña, se implementó la figura legal del indulto como mecanismo para liberar rápidamente a personas inocentes acusadas de terrorismo y traición a la patria. Más de setecientos sesenta personas se beneficiaron de este procedimiento, que funcionó como solución de compromiso al reconocer errores judiciales sin declarar formalmente la inocencia. Los indultados permanecen estigmatizados y no han recibido indemnización, sufriendo las consecuencias de procesos judiciales injustos caracterizados por tribunales sin rostro y escasas garantías de defensa.
