Investigation of Human Rights Violations in Santa Bárbara
In July 1991, following a military incursion in the community of Santa Bárbara, Huancavelica, Peru, local leaders filed complaints with the authorities about alleged human rights violations. Investigations were conducted, including the exhumation of remains in the 'Misteriosa' mine, where human remains were found. Despite initial police reports suggesting no evidence of homicide, further forensic analysis was conducted to identify the remains.
El 8 de julio de 1991, Nicolás Hilario Morán y Lorenzo Quispe Huamán presentaron denuncia ante la Fiscalía Especial sobre los hechos del 4 de julio. Posteriormente, el 12 de julio, Viviano Hilario Mancha interpuso denuncia ante la Fiscalía Especial, iniciándose investigaciones por la Policía Técnica de Huancavelica. Entre el 15 y 18 de julio de 1991 se realizó levantamiento de cadáveres en la mina "Misteriosa", hallándose restos humanos seccionados y munición. Los restos fueron remitidos al médico legista para examen anátomo-patológico.
