Detention and Death of Hermenegildo Jauja Salazar
On 22 April 1990, Hermenegildo Jauja Salazar was detained along with Jesús Jauja Sullo while traveling from Chuchumake-Tirani to Fuchungo. Hermenegildo was later found agonizing on the ground, and witnesses reported that he had been interrogated, submerged in water, and beaten. His death was confirmed by witnesses, though there is uncertainty about whether it resulted from torture or poisoning.
El 22 de abril, Hermenegildo Jauja Salazar y Jesús Jauja Sullo fueron detenidos cuando se dirigían a una faena en Fuchungo. Según testimonios de comuneros, Hermenegildo Jauja fue interrogado, sumergido en agua y golpeado. José Jauja Llicahua lo encontró en el suelo y agonizante ese mismo día. Aunque hay dudas sobre la causa exacta de su muerte —si fue por envenenamiento o torturas— los testigos confirmaron su fallecimiento, ocurrido en circunstancias similares a otros casos de tortura y malos tratos.
