Human Rights Violations in Chumbivilcas
In April 1990, a series of human rights violations occurred in Chumbivilcas, Peru, involving military personnel. Several individuals were injured, and three women were reportedly raped while detained by the military. The events were reported to local and national authorities, and investigations were initiated to identify the perpetrators, who were suspected to be members of the Peruvian Army.
Entre el 21 y 30 de abril de 1990, aproximadamente 20 elementos armados incursionaron en comunidades de los distritos de Quiñota, Llusco y Chumbivilcas. El 21 de abril, soldados bajo el mando de un Teniente detuvieron a varios civiles, incluyendo a Sebastián Apfata Inga, su hijo Santiago, y mujeres como Aurelia Huamaní Apfata y Rosaura Aroni Álvarez. Los detenidos fueron sometidos a tratos crueles: tortura en un río cercano mediante sumersión repetida y golpes, causando heridas graves. Aurelia Huamaní Apfata y Rosaura Aroni Álvarez fueron violadas por el Teniente y otros subalternos, siendo también obligadas a ingerir sustancias embriagantes. Víctor Huachaca desapareció tras los interrogatorios.
