Detentions and Human Rights Violations in Jauja
In 2002, several individuals, including Fortunata and Mercedes Celestina Núñez Huanuco, were unjustly detained by military forces in Jauja, Peru. They were subjected to inhumane treatment, such as being bound and transported to military bases. Some detainees were released after hours of detention, while others, like Raúl Salas Chocas and Wilson Salas Huánuco, remain missing.
Durante una operación militar en Jauja, múltiples civiles fueron detenidos arbitrariamente, incluyendo a Fortunata, Oscar Salas Huánuco y Mercedes Celestina Núñez Huanuco. Los detenidos fueron amarrados, vendados y trasladados en vehículos al Cuartel Teodoro Peñaloza o Fuerte Cáceres. Mercedes Celestina narró que los militares utilizaban helicópteros para intimidar a los detenidos e intentaban que dispararan a civiles inocentes. Tras permanecer detenidos varias horas, algunos fueron liberados, mientras que otros, como Raúl Salas Chocas y Wilson Salas Huánuco, permanecen desaparecidos hasta la fecha.
