Investigation of Deaths at Hospital in Peru
On March 5, 1982, a commission was created to investigate the deaths of Wensjoe, Alcántara, and Urbay, which allegedly did not occur during a police operation. The investigation revealed that several police officers were involved in the violent incidents at the hospital, leading to the deaths of Wensjoe and Urbay. Despite the investigation, the circumstances surrounding Alcántara's death remained unclear.
Tres días después de los sucesos en el Hospital de Huamanga, el Ministerio del Interior emitió un comunicado negando que las muertes de Wensjoe Mantilla, Alcántara Chávez y Urbay Ovalle se hubieran producido en el marco de un operativo policial. Se creó una comisión investigadora mediante Resolución Suprema Nº 035-82-JUS, integrada por representantes del Ministerio del Interior y Ministerio de Justicia, que entregó su informe el 11 de abril de 1982. Paralelamente, la Inspectoría Regional de la Guardia Republicana emitió el Informe 08-SR-IR.Inv. el 15 de marzo de 1982, documentando que el subteniente Pedro Rosemberg Mendoza ordenó conducir a los detenidos al patio del hospital, donde fueron maltratados y posteriormente trasladados a una camioneta de la PIP para ser ejecutados.
