Influence of PCP-SL in University Elections
In April 1990, the PCP-SL significantly influenced the election of university authorities, marking a peak in their control over the institution. The student movement, heavily influenced by PCP-SL, played a crucial role in electing Vizcardo as rector, who was perceived as more manageable. This period saw attempts to root out corruption within the university, leading to investigations and actions against certain employees.
En abril de 1990 se eligieron nuevas autoridades universitarias en una asamblea estudiantil fuertemente influida por el PCP-SL. Aunque el rector electo Vizcardo nunca fue senderista, fue elegido por considerársele manipulable, mientras que Cerrón fue colocado como vicerrector académico. Esta elección marcó el inicio de la influencia casi total del PCP-SL en la Universidad, consolidada mediante el tercio impuesto como representación estudiantil oficial en el Consejo Universitario. Posteriormente, el movimiento estudiantil promovió comisiones investigadoras para remover instancias institucionales, acusando a trabajadores y empleados de corrupción e inmoralidad.
