1980 Student Occupation of UNCP
In 1980, students at the Universidad Nacional del Centro del Perú (UNCP) staged a significant protest by occupying the central premises of the university for over two months. This action was in response to dissatisfaction with the university's governance, led by a discredited commission accused of corruption. The occupation marked a pivotal moment in the student movement, leading to a reorganization of the university's administration.
El movimiento estudiantil de la UNCP emergió con fuerza en 1980 contra la Comisión de Gobierno encabezada por Renán Ruiz, Jesús Véliz y Carlos Carvo, tres personas desprestigiadas por corrupción institucional. Los estudiantes realizaron una toma del local central de la universidad que duró más de dos meses. Esta ocupación fue el punto culminante del movimiento estudiantil y trajo como consecuencia un proceso de reorganización de la universidad.
