Defeat of PCP-SL at the 1974 FENDUP Congress

La presencia del MIR en el sindicato docente hizo que el PCP-SL perdiera su hegemonía inicial. Ante este retroceso, los seguidores de Guzmán formaron un sindicato docente paralelo que resultó ser claramente minoritario para 1974. El PCP-SL convocó a un congreso nacional de la FENDUP en 1974 en un intento de revertir sus pérdidas, pero fue derrotado por los grupos opositores, sufriendo una dura derrota en el movimiento docente. Esta práctica de crear organizaciones paralelas fue característica del accionar de los seguidores de Guzmán.
