Human Rights Violations in Cayumba Chico
In April 1994, Carlos Blanco Oropeza, president of the Human Rights Commission of the CCD, investigated human rights violations committed by the Peruvian Army in Cayumba Chico, Huánuco. Reports indicated that the army was responsible for the deaths and mistreatment of civilians, including torture and sexual violence. Despite initial denials, evidence of these atrocities was uncovered, highlighting the severe impact on the local population.
Carlos Blanco Oropeza, presidente de la Comisión de Derechos Humanos del CCD, llegó a Huánuco el 11 de abril de 1994 para investigar violaciones de derechos humanos cometidas por el Ejército Peruano en Cayumba Chico. Durante estas investigaciones se desenterraron cadáveres en la zona de Moyuna, identificándose entre ellos los restos de Félix Loyola. Testimonios de pobladores indican que el Ejército fue responsable de torturas, violaciones y asesinatos de civiles en la región del Alto Huallaga.
