Violent Incursions in Uchuraccay
In 1984, the community of Uchuraccay in Huanta, Peru, faced violent incursions as part of a broader conflict involving the PCP Sendero Luminoso and organized Civil Defense Committees. These committees, in coordination with the military, conducted raids in search of PCP SL members, which often resulted in punitive actions against the local population. The military's actions included looting and burning homes, further victimizing the residents of Uchuraccay.
