PCP Sendero Luminoso Attack on Christmas Eve
On December 24, 1983, the PCP Sendero Luminoso violently entered a village and executed eight individuals, including members of the Figueroa Gavilán and Chávez Soto families. The attack left the community in fear and mourning, as they struggled to bury their dead and cope with the trauma. The incident reflects the brutal tactics used by the Sendero Luminoso during the internal conflict in Peru.
El tercer ataque ocurrió en la víspera de Navidad, el 24 de diciembre de 1983, cuando el PCP Sendero Luminoso ingresó violentamente al pueblo. Los atacantes utilizaron listas para identificar y extraer a campesinos específicos, reuniéndolos posteriormente en la escuela. Asesinaron a ocho personas, incluyendo a Ignacio Figueroa Gavilán, Baltazar Figueroa Gavilán, Lorenzo Figueroa Cunto, Daniel Chocce Ayala, Benito Auccatoma Quispe, Teodora Soto Ticlla y Teófila Chávez Soto, madre y hermana del secretario de la comunidad. Los sobrevivientes quedaron traumatizados, sin poder dormir ni vivir con tranquilidad después del ataque.
