Assassination of CORAH Workers by PCP-SL
On 17 November 1984, the Communist Party of Peru - Shining Path (PCP-SL) carried out a significant attack by assassinating 19 workers of the CORAH (Special Project for the Control and Eradication of Coca Cultivation in Alto Huallaga) in Cornivilla, Monzón. This event was part of a broader campaign by the PCP-SL to target state representatives and organizations involved in coca eradication efforts. The attack highlighted the group's strategy to undermine government efforts and assert control over coca-producing regions.
Las primeras acciones de envergadura que el PCP-SL realizó en la zona de Tingo María fueron, en diciembre de 1983, el ataque al local de CORAH y un atentado contra un candidato de AP en Aucayacu. Entre 1981 y 1988, el PCP-SL dirigió sus ataques contra el Estado, organismos de cooperación internacional y organizaciones de la población local, teniendo como blancos principales a alcaldes, prefectos, policías y dirigentes políticos.
