Attacks on Aucayacu by PCP-SL
In 1984, the Communist Party of Peru - Shining Path (PCP-SL) demonstrated its growing support and organizational capabilities by attacking the city of Aucayacu twice. The first attack occurred on January 31, and the second on July 4, during which the PCP-SL took control of the city for several hours, attacked the police station, and killed police officers. These events led to a brutal government crackdown, including assassinations and detentions, and prompted the declaration of a state of emergency in the Huánuco department.
En 1984, el PCP-SL demostró su creciente apoyo y desarrollo organizativo al tomar la ciudad de Aucayacu en dos oportunidades. El primer ataque ocurrió el 31 de enero y el segundo el 4 de julio, en ambos casos atacando el puesto policial y asesinando a policías. Estos ataques desencadenaron una brutal represión con asesinatos y detenciones. Antes del segundo ataque, fue asesinado el alcalde de Tingo María, Tito Jaime Fernández, lo que llevó al gobierno a decretar el estado de emergencia en Huánuco.
