A woman testifies about the disappearance of her son in the city of Lima. The testimony was collected in Ayacucho in December 2002. The mother recounts how, out of grief and anger over the disappearance, she took to drinking and learned to chew too much coca. The case illustrates the psychological aftermath and coping mechanisms adopted by relatives of the disappeared during the internal armed conflict.
