Cases of detention and sexual violence perpetrated mainly by members of the Armed Forces in Monzón, Huamalies, Huánuco. Victims faced pain, shame and silence about the abuses they suffered.
During the internal armed conflict in Monzón, Huamalies, Huánuco, cases of detention and sexual violence against women were recorded. Most of the sexual abuses were imputed to members of the Armed Forces, especially on those they detained, as part of the torture inflicted. The victims showed their enormous pain and shame, and many of them could not talk about it before, neither to share their humiliation, nor to denounce it. Some testimonies indicate that there were rapes of women, mainly single, resulting in single mothers with military children.
