Public Hearing on Political Violence and Crimes against Women
CVR public hearing held in Lima on September 10, 2002, dedicated to documenting political violence and crimes against women during the Peruvian internal armed conflict.
Public hearing organized by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission focused on documenting and making visible the political violence and crimes committed specifically against women during the internal armed conflict. During this hearing, testimonies of women victims of sexual violence, arbitrary detentions, torture and other abuses were presented. The testimonies collected were part of the process of documenting human rights violations from a gender perspective. This hearing was part of the public sessions that the TRC held to give voice to the victims and record their experiences.
