Women's Public Hearing
CVR public hearing where testimonies of women victims of sexual violence and human rights violations during the Peruvian internal armed conflict were presented. Cases of rape, torture and arbitrary detentions committed mainly by state agents were documented.
The Women's Public Hearing was a unique session held by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission where multiple cases of sexual violence and human rights violations against women during the internal armed conflict were presented. During this hearing, testimonies were heard from women who were victims of rape, forced nudity, arbitrary detentions and torture by State agents. The cases presented included detentions in Villa El Salvador (1990), rapes in contexts of torture, and testimonies of systematic sexual violence in different regions of the country. The hearing documented patterns of sexual violence as a generalized practice during the conflict.
