Teaching from the pit to the prosecutor

Quispillacta residents showed the prosecutor a grave with human remains on August 28, 2002, but the prosecutor did not comply with the procedure of placing custody over the grave. The relatives decided to wait for DNA results before accepting the remains.

A Quispillacta villager showed the prosecutor a grave containing human remains, including clothing characteristic of the Quispillacta people and a woven sweater that could be identified. Despite the fact that the CVR manual established that the prosecutor should take custody of the grave once notified, the prosecutor did not comply with this procedure and left the grave unprotected. The relatives expressed their distrust of this situation and decided to wait until December for the results of the DNA tests before formally accepting the remains. The witness had returned to the grave on September 25 at 4:00 AM with other relatives and dug a few centimeters, finding bones and clothing.
