Subversive ambush in Villa Asháninka, Pichanaki, which left 2 Peruvian Army soldiers dead and 10 wounded on December 8, 1999.

On December 8, 1999, a subversive ambush took place in Villa Asháninka, district of Pichanaki, province of Satipo. The attack was perpetrated by subversive forces against Peruvian Army troops. As a result of the confrontation, 2 military personnel were killed and 10 wounded members of the Peruvian Army. This event occurred in the context of the final actions of the internal armed conflict in the central jungle, when small groups of the PCP-SL were still present in remote communities of the Ene river basin.
