Killing of Hipólito Canchari
In 1987, a group of approximately 40 militants from the PCP-SL arrived in the village of Chinche Rabí and demanded food from Hipólito Canchari and his family. After the militants left, the Peruvian Army accused Hipólito of collaborating with the subversives. Despite his explanations, he was tortured by the military and eventually died from the abuse. The military warned the villagers against supporting the subversives.
En 1987, en el poblado de Chinche Rabí, aproximadamente 40 militantes del PCP-SL llegaron a la casa de Hipólito Canchari y lo obligaron a preparar comida para ellos. Poco tiempo después, un helicóptero militar aterrizó en la zona y los efectivos acusaron a Hipólito de ser colaborador de los subversivos. A pesar de su explicación de que había sido obligado a alimentarlos, los militares lo sometieron a torturas intensas, exigiéndole que colaborara con el gobierno y no con los terroristas.
